This is a waterproof rain poncho with an NIR/IRR feature that provides effective camouflage under night vision.
Field products in PL Woodland camouflage provide NIR (Near Infrared), also referred to as IRR (Infrared Reflective) functionality.
The materials used help reduce the contrast of the wearer’s silhouette when viewed through devices operating in the near-infrared spectrum. All visible fabrics and components are selected to absorb, reflect, and transmit radiation in a way that closely resembles the natural environment – woodland terrain. Each material is tested under both laboratory and field conditions using a spectrophotometer and analog night-vision devices.
Protection against rain and physical damage
We made them from ripstop polyester so they not only keep out the rain but also withstand snags, abrasion, and daily use in harsh environments.
The ripstop weave reinforces the fabric and prevents any tears from spreading.
Ultra-lightweight thanks to their simplified design
We reduced the structural elements of the Poncho Lightweight to the bare minimum when designing it. For example, we replaced the metal eyelets with sturdy webbing loops. This allowed us to reduce its weight and packed size without changing its unfolded dimensions.
Lightweight, easy to pack, ready to go
The poncho is lightweight and takes up very little space when packed. This means you can toss it into your backpack, bike pannier, or even a glove compartment and forget about it until you really need it.
When packed, it fits into a small pouch that easily slips into any side pocket of your backpack.
Protects you and your equipment
You don’t have to choose between staying dry and carrying your gear. The loose fit allows you to wear the poncho over your clothes and a medium-sized backpack. Plus, the drawstring hood lets you adjust the fit precisely to your head and protects your head from wind and rain.
Functionality that goes above and beyond
Snaps along the sides allow you to adjust the sleeves and improve the fit of the poncho while walking. You can also connect two ponchos to create a larger canopy or a makeshift shelter in the field.
